Newbie!!
Well here goes nothing!
Welcome to my new blog :) For a long while I have thought about starting a blog, not because anyone else might care about my daily life or what I have to say, but because my life is crazy and one day it might be fun to look back on all the awesome memories that have been created and stories that otherwise would be forgotten. Why didn't I? Simple...we live in a world where judgement is everywhere and people are harsh! Fear stopped me. I allowed what other people might possibly think to be the reason I did not simply write down my thoughts and experiences. Crazy I know! Want to know how I worked up the guts? I bought a shirt. Hang with me here.
It is a simple black tank top that says BE KIND, COMPASSIONATE, AND FEARLESS.
Simple words, yes. But what a incredible motto to live by. It spoke fire within me and lead me to this place. More to come.
Let me introduce myself to you all.
My name is Alison Joseph but I have a load of nicknames. Most often called Ali, but I will respond to AJ, Al, Ramey (my middle name), or Nords (maiden name Nordlander). I live a rather nomadic lifestyle and love that I have had the ability to live all over the United States and experience different places and things. I grew up in Arizona and moved to Texas to attend Baylor University (Sic 'em Bears!). After college, I commissioned into the Air Force and spent the next for years as a Labor and Delivery nurse stationed at Eglin Air Force Base (Destin, FL-dream location!!!). I recently separated from the military and now get to follow my husband as he pursues his dream, as a professional baseball player with the Philadelphia Phillies! Shout out to Tommy- he is amazingly supportive, puts up with my craziness and takes me for who I am! Again, hence nomadic lifestyle. We live in many different places throughout the year between the off season, spring training, and the season. Not to mention all the road trips during the season! It has been a journey for each of us, but I am so glad we are on it together! Enough rambling about baseball for now- there will be many post to follow on that.
I never promised to stay on topic so let me bounce back...
BE KIND
What a simple concept. To be kind. Be kind to others. Be kind to yourself. Be kind to the planet. Just think about that for a second. Is there something that happened today, in everyday life, where maybe you could have been just a little more kind? What a powerful tool we all have if we just choose to utilize it.
BE COMPASSIONATE
Defintion-feeling or showing sympathy and concern for others.
I am SO blessed. I know I am. But that doesn't mean that I do not take for granted what I have, we all do. So I am on a mission. To live through these words and be a more compassionate human. Starting in daily life and allowing it to expand into my dreams.
BE FEARLESS
Do not allow fear to paralyze you! Easier said then done- I am clear. But life is short! Someone once said to me "Do the thing you fear the most and the death of fear is certain." What a statement! Fear will literally die if you simply choose to do the things you fear.
So here it is.... the start. I don't know where I might be going on this journey but I am happy you are following along! My promise to myself and to you, is that I will choose to live by these words to the best of my ability. I promise to remain real, raw, and truthful. Who knows... you may get a laugh or two along the way!
XOXO,
Ali
